Things consider when selecting blinds for a school

Safety

Any window blind fabric selected for schools or commercial propreties must be fire retardant. All of our window blinds and curtains fabrics are fire retardant in accordance with BS5867 and are installed to child safety standard BS EN 13120:2009+A1:2014. We also provide crank operation, side guide wires and automated shading systems without any cords or chain for added peace of mind.

Room Usage

When choosing the right window blind and fabric for a classroom environment, it is important to consider what the room is used for. For instance, if the room is used for IT lessons, choosing a roller blind with a screen fabric will reduce the amount of glare on the screens, while still allowing natural light to enter the room to aid with well-being and concentration. For an auditorium or lecture hall where presentations will be taking place, a blackout blind would be most suitable to ensure no glare will disrupt the lesson when in use.

Internal Environment

Students progressed 15% faster in maths and 23% faster in reading when in classrooms with the most daylight compared to students in classrooms with the least amount of natural light according to research on the relationship between daylight and human performance. Cooler classrooms were also found to be better for students' concentration while warmer rooms resulted in reduced attention spans. Efficient shading systems can reduce the need of artificial lighting and air conditioning systems to keep the indoor temperature at a comfortable level.
