No amount of rain could deter our team this weekend who successfully completed the Dragon Boat Race Challenge for the RSBC. It is the first fundraising challenge we have done in support of our charity partner, the Royal Society for Blind Children, and although none of the team members had taken part in a dragon boat race before, the team thoroughly enjoyed themselves on the day and put on an amazing performance during their heats.
The team did amazing in their heats (first team to get a lap time under one minute) but narrowly lost out on the final by less than 3/10s of a second. This didn't dampen their spirits by any means and there has been talks about next year's event already!
We can't thank everyone who supported us enough for your generous donations and help towards our goal.

Capricorn recently took home the award for the Best Large-Scale Commercial Shading Installation project at the prestigious BBSA Excellence Awards 2019 on the 4th May. The award was presented to us for the oustanding workmanship demonstrated at an installation of over 1,000 automated roller blinds at a project completed in the city of Birmingham.
We are truly honoured to have been recognised by the BBSA with this award and would like to sincerely thank our customers for their continued support.
Capricorn Blinds has entered the annual Dragon Boat Festival at the Edgbaston Reservoir in support of the Royal Society for Blind Children.
On 8th June we will be joined by family and friends for what is looking to be an epic race to help some of the 36,000 blind children in the UK.
Please visit our Just Giving page to help us achieve our goal of raising £1000 for the RSBC and the brave children they are supporting.
Why not come along to watch the teams take to the water and do battle - Dragon boat style!
Visit the Edgbaston Rotary Club for more information on the event.
RSBC is a national charity focused on delivering support to blind and partially sighted children, young people and their families.
Tom O’Loughlin, Chief Executive at Capricorn Shading Group, explains what first inspired the approach to RSBC; “For some time there has been a strong appetite within the business to team up with a charity and be a force for good above and beyond our everyday mission to sell our products. The idea came to me as I’d been called the “blind man” on so many occasions. I thought how great it would be if my reply to this poor joke could be that, in all seriousness, “every sale we make benefits blind children.”
“After hearing about some of the ways RSBC have helped blind and partially sighted children in the West Midlands and beyond, we were convinced immediately that they were the right partner for us.”

Over the Summer period, we experienced a significant demand for Perfect Fit blinds as we experienced one of the longest and hottest Summers on record.
By looking into the demands in the marketplace, we noticed there was a strong requirement for shorter lead times and the opportunity to pass on savings from bulk orders. As a result, we are able to offer cost-effective offerings to trade thanks to our developed calculation tool and in-house manfucaturing facilities to help the trade save cost on Perfect Fit blinds.
The Autumn edition of Openings Magazine features an article on our solutions to the trade. If you haven't got your copy yet, contact the BBSA or download the Openings app for free.
