About the Project

The new main university library opened in 2017 and was described as heralding a new generation of libraries in the UK. Capricorn installed a wide variety of internal and external shading solutions to fit in with the aesthetics of the building with both manual and motorised control. Careful environmental modelling was carried out on the building and through a combination of internal and external shading to the majority of windows, Capricorn installed a fully automated shading control system to maximise user comfort whilst also considering the energy efficiency of the Library.
