About the Project

Cedars Hall is a world-class performing arts venue for the prestigious Wells Cathedral School and is described as the most audacious development in the school’s history. Acoustic performance was of key importance along with the aesthetics of the hall and Capricorn collaborated with the building contractor to design an impressive lifting blind system which disappeared beneath the floor void when fully open with no fixed cassette at the top of the reveal.

In addition, gravity drop zip side channel blinds were installed to the high-level clerestory windows to achieve both acoustic and blackout for performances by the school’s 200 specialist musicians.
Cedars Hall is one of the most innovative buildings of this era, has been designed specifically to support heavier roller fabrics making it both attractive to the eye and excellent for preserving the acoustics.
